Hi all,

We have implemented a 1:1 ipad initiative at Sibley East School this year. We are seeing some trends with iMessaging that concern us.

1What are other schools doing with iMessaging and Facetime?

2. Do you have curriculum or policies?

3. Anyway to block or remove for time if abused?

Thanks

Amy

I received two responses on Listserv

1. We have contracted with a company called Absolute.
http://www.absolute.com/products/absolute-manage-mdm

Through this we block iMessage & Facetime while students are on campus.

Hope that helps. Here is a link to more information about our program on our website.

2. Anyway, that has come up here.
We have a policy in place that if we catch students using FaceTime, unless authorized, will result in us turning FaceTime off of their machine in the Restrictions. That is one app that is switch on and off-able.

Messaging cannot be turned off, but you do need an AppleID for that, and you can certainly block the port for that from your firewall....

Hope that helps
Dave
